Just a quick note to all UK readers:  PC World and Curry’s will bother be offering a guaranteed £50 off of the cost of a new computer when you trade in your old laptop.

The only stipulation so far as I can see is that the old machine must be capable of turning on and booting.

They will also waive the normal £30 fee for wiping the hard disk of your old PC, before they recycle it.
